34 Weeks

Dr. Appointment today. Pulling in at a nice steady 34 weeks preggers. Baby heartbeat 135.... momma's blood pressure again fabulous, and weight is around +14lbs. currently. Actually, this brings up a fun game that was played at the baby shower..... lets guess how big Amanda's belly is by cutting a piece of ribbon to the correct size. Thankfully I understand that I am quite fortunate with weight gain this time around otherwise what a terribly depressing game THAT would have been!

That's about it for today, did a little more cleaning around the house, cooked my second dinner in a row which is a true accomplishment these days, and now I'm prepping myself for the fabulousness that is Tuesday night television. LOST followed by V :-)

Baby Shower!!

I know this is my second post in one day, watch out, but I didn't want to decrease the excitement of the baby shower with sharing a blog spot with pregnancy pitfalls.

The baby shower was amazing!!! Nancy did a fabulous job decorating, planning games, food and the cutest cake ever!!! ( made by the same lady who did my wedding cake, pics soon) It was wonderful to see family and friends that I haven't even since I've been pregnant and share the belly bump with them:-)

Joe and I received EVERYTHING we could need to bring a happy little baby into this world. Going through all the gifts together really made everything seem like the real deal AND was wicked fun. Now that most of our bigger items are assembled and I've sorted through all the clothes.... tomorrow will be spent washing baby clothes and organizing where everything is to go in the room.

Overall a pretty awesome day for some excited parents :-)

Pregnancy Pitfalls

Ok, I know it has been a bit since my last blog, so I'll get one out there to catch y'all up. Being honest here for a moment, pregnancy is getting on my nerves a bit.

1. I AM TIRED. Like wicked flipping tired. Should get a little better now that my hours will be reduced.

2. What is the stinkin' point of eating if you can't enjoy the food! If you’ve ever experienced heartburn, God bless ya..... cause it sucks, truly sucks. All my food has a wonderful chalky/assorted berry flavor from my wonderful friend Tums. Thank God for Tums, and I mean I seriously thank the Lord for making a person who had such bad heartburn one day he created this wonderful, chewable, calcium enriched piece of joy.

3. One of the greatest things about being pregnant is no period! WRONG. I’m pretty sure I was unaware of the fact that you still leak stuff for a pretty decent portion of being pregnant. * Sigh * How’s that for a buzz kill ladies?!?

4. Sleeping. Not such an easy task these days. Actually, I’m almost becoming nocturnal in the sense that I seem to have no problem sleeping comfortably during the day… which is all very confusing to me.

5. “Husband annoying the crap out of you.” Everyone says I’m SO lucky to be pregnant during this time of year. Not during the cold, not during the heat blah blah …… oh yeah, well how about this is the time of year when your husband comes out of video game hibernation and can’t get his mind off of golfing, baseball and really ANY outdoor activity not to mention it’s the beginning of hockey playoff time. WTF. Yeah, perfect timing. (don’t get me wrong, I love all these things also, however when your pregnant and you want to do this or that instead or don’t care about the fun your man is having while your lugging around an extra 14lbs.….. this will make so much sense to you all)

Ok, there you are, some pregnancy pitfalls, enjoy.

Days Off!

Monday, my day off, and officially one of the best days of the week by a long shot. Oddly enough this particular Monday is going to be quite busy, but at least I can pass the day the way I would like. To start the morning off, Joe’s alarm went off 6 times… At that point I made the wonderfully comical journey of rolling over as a pregnant woman so that I can yell at my husband to get his ass out of bed and get to work. ( Then I can go back to sleep. On the side that I have now rolled over onto, cause I ain’t rolling back, even if it was more comfortable.) Me: “ Hunny, you think you should um get up now?” Joe: “ oh yeah…. I have a surprise for you.” Me: “ umm ok, what?” Joe: *snoring * ME: “Joe, what’s the surprise!?!” Joe: “ Oh yeah, I’m taking today off to finish the work we started on the baby room and be with you.” Me: “ Oh, that’s nice” (in my mind I’m thinking, did letting your alarm go off 6 times make this look like a REAL surprise OR just prove that you decided this “surprise” like 3 seconds ago because the sheets were oh so comfy this morning??!?! Totally would have been equally thrilled without being woken up every 10 minutes for an hour.)

Anyway, Joey took the day off and we did some errands first and then got straight to work on the baby room. Now everything is painted, touched up, polished and cleared out of the room so that tonight we can start the flooring! This is very exciting and hopefully I will have many pictures to post of this activity.

Odd/Funny moments Joe and I shared on our afternoon together:
1. As I was watching/ sort of helping him fold the laundry, Joe tells me how much he loves these izod socks that he has and how well they stand up to everyday pressures of being a sock. Then, almost at the same time, we bring up the fact that the guy in front of us at church was wearing izod pants! WHAT?!?!? Heheh We came to the conclusion that we both noticed this because his pants were actually way to tight for him so you had to look.
(BTW, Joe knows far to much about detergent, water temp. and wants to iron more than any male should, but I almost love him more because of it.)

2. While Joe was trying to reset our boiler so our hot water would come back on, I was on the couch resting. Joe comes upstairs with a beer and shit-grin on his face. Me: “did you fix it?” Joe: “yeah I just needed to hold the button in a little longer than normal.” ME: “ oh? Is that why is sounded like a spaceship was landing in the basement?!” Joe: “ hehehe, yeah that was a little loud huh? You should have seen all the black smoke bellowing out from there!” Me: “what?!?!?”

Baby news: Monday was our 32 wk visit to the doctors. Baby heartbeat 154, mama's blood pressure 120/80 the “ideal” blood pressure as the doc said. I also got yelled at for not putting on enough weight. Only 2lbs in 4 weeks, so I gotta get on that. But folks, I eat, all the time, when I’m hungry and even when I’m not!!! The doc just said I have a small baby but it’s still growing at a normal rate to how many weeks I am. Here is where I say…. If baby is healthy and growing fine, then I see nothing wrong with a “smaller” baby!!!

This week in doggie news, Boyd, our first born, is now a night-crawler hunter! That’s right folks, our 98lb black lab will dig a whole in the woods and find night-crawlers!! I think this is quite incredible and skillful if you ask me.

Now I have to pay bills, go to bank and post office, then off to grams house to work on a genealogy tree that her cousins are currently trying to finish up :-)

I guess I can try

Once upon a time, I was feeling wicked ambitious and decided, " Hey, everyone is writing a blog these days, maybe I should give it a shot." After choosing a ridiculously obvious name, Oh Baby!, and my good ol' stand-by green background, I realized, what the frick am I doing?!?! Not only do a HATE to write, and believe that Cheryl is reading this right now secretly correcting a long list of English faux pas that I have already made, but when it comes down to it, I’m currently leading a pretty basic lifestyle and not sure how that equals great reading material.

So Here I am, a normal Thursday morning, well not really because I’m actually up and dressed and its only 8:15am. The reason being, of course there is a reason are you kidding me, two nights ago when Joe and I were trying to watch the Bruins play, our HD wasn’t working properly…. And to be quite frank we GOT the upgrade so that we CAN watch sports in HD. (yahoo to baseball starting!) Joe, being the enthusiastic/aggravated hockey fan that he was, promptly picked up the phone and scheduled Charter to come this morning and fix the issue.

Things I have learned since Charter has been here:
1. That I should probably just become a Charter technician given all the questions they ask me. Dude, listen, I know I have two tv’s, two lap tops and this is where the modem is. No, I do not know if it is this black wire, that black wire, or the third black wire that runs from the upstairs tv or that we have splitters outside, isn’t it your job to figure out that shit? (Although it disappoints me how incredibly "helpless girly" that sounded, its kinda the truth.)
2. The second technician who extended his ladder to climb the telephone pole is fat and was worried that his weight was to much for the wire his ladder was resting on. Consequently, he had to consult the other technician to see if he thought he should put the ladder on the actual pole itself. REALLY buddy, lets not risk taking out EVERYONES cable and telephone because you wanted to be like the cool guys who put there ladder on the actual cable.
3. We have a bats nest on that telephone pole.
4. Frank called out of work yesterday.
5. Since they are still working, I’m hoping that discovery number 6 will be – Yes, my internet is fast and I actually want to watch HGTV/ Food network on the HD channels because, Damn it just looks so pretty.

Baby News – Extremely active baby this week and dare a say even a bit annoying with the painful pokes to the ribs. For the first time in my pregnancy I'm saying “OW” from the jabs and although in previous weeks was timid when trying to maneuver baby, had no problem pushing the heck out of the kid to get in a better position. The iron pills are greatly helping with being tired and the daily vitamins are keeping me cold free! Joe almost finished painting the closet last night so we should be putting down the floors soon; everything is happening so fast! Weird thing this week – In the same thought I can want the baby out of my tummy SO BAD, while the thought of a natural birth slowly creeps up on me and quickly changes my mind….. you can stay in there as long as you need little one.

Work at 2, hopefully a nap before hand. I start training a new woman who will be my replacement while I am on maternity leave starting tomorrow, so that should be interesting.

I make no promises to actually write in this blog more than once a month, eh hem Cheryl …. But I will try hard this month seeing as how I have some downtime on my hands ☺
